Honoring Survivors, Raising Awareness, & Supporting Healing

Each October, we pause to honor the strength of women facing breast cancer and to renew our commitment to awareness, education, and support. At Align Total Wellness, we know that healing goes beyond treatment  it is a journey of the spirit, soul, and body.

This year, we are offering a heartfelt gift:
$20 off a 50-Minute Healing Touch Massage for women who are breast cancer survivors, scheduled during October.

It’s our way of saying: we see you, we honor you, and we support your continued healing.

The Current Landscape of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States. Here are some important 2025 updates:

  • 316,950 women are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year (BCRF).

  • Today, more than 4 million women in the U.S. are living with a history of breast cancer (American Cancer Society).

  • By 2035, that number will grow to over 5.3 million survivors (ACS Pressroom).

The five-year survival rate has reached about 91%, but outcomes vary significantly by stage at diagnosis:

  • Localized (confined to the breast): over 99%

  • Regional (spread to nearby nodes/structures): ~ 87%

  • Distant (metastatic): ~ 32%
    (American Cancer Society)

These numbers show us two things: early detection saves lives, and survivorship is a growing journey for millions of women.

Disparities Across Communities

Breast cancer doesn’t affect all women equally.

  • White women have the highest overall incidence rates.

  • Black women, however, face a 40% higher mortality rate despite slightly lower incidence (American Cancer Society).

  • Among women under 50, Black women die at nearly double the rate of White women (BCRF).

  • Black women are also more likely to develop triple-negative breast cancer, an aggressive form that accounts for about 1 in 5 diagnoses in this group (American Cancer Society).

These disparities remind us of the importance of awareness, early screening, access to care, and culturally sensitive support.

Healing Beyond Treatment

The end of active treatment does not mean the end of the breast cancer journey. Survivors often face:

  • Lingering pain and fatigue

  • Lymphedema risk

  • Emotional stress, anxiety, and fear of recurrence

  • Body image and self-identity challenges

This is where holistic wellness can make a difference.

At Align Total Wellness, our Healing Touch Massage is designed with care, compassion, and an understanding of survivorship needs. With gentle, adaptive techniques, we support survivors by:

  • Reducing stress and encouraging relaxation

  • Supporting safe lymphatic flow (when medically cleared)

  • Addressing scar tissue sensitivity with mindful touch

  • Creating a nurturing space for emotional and spiritual renewal
